My, that whole year was a tumultuous time. In some ways, it feels like it was a whole other life.

Nevertheless, I haven't forgotten. And I don't ever wanna feel like I did that day.

Today I was watching Batman Begins again. I liked it the first time I saw it (even though I thought it moved a little slowly at the beginning), but now I think I underestimated it; it is a REALLY GOOD movie.

When I started medical transcription training, I got out of the habit of borrowing DVDs from the library, so the backlog of movies I want to see has been getting bigger and bigger. So lately I've been trying to get back into the library-DVD habit. Here's some what I've been watching lately, with some comments:

Next week are the World Figure Skating Championships, which would ordinarily be the biggest figure skating event of the year, except that this was an Olympic year. Some of the Olympic figure skaters are not competing at Worlds; Evan Lysacek is not competing, nor is Johnny Weir, so alternates are going in their places. I don't know about April being the cruelest month (I'd be more inclined to pick October or November) but April 4th is certainly a momentous date: it's the date Dr. King was killed and the date Heath Ledger was born (though not the same year, obviously). I hope you'll indulge me as I continue to work through my grief. My counselor told me last fall that grief never really goes away, although it (usually) gets easier to bear after a while. Now that I think about it, you wouldn't really want it to go away entirely, because that would mean forgetting about the people you lost ( Read more... )

There was one detail about the Dark Knight which I forgot to mention in my previous post. At one point the movie for sure (and possibly two different points) the Joker rattles off an address, and both Batman and Officer Gordon have the ability to remember it without writing it down.
